Enough Already Addicts

When is enough, enough?  Simply defined enough means:  sufficient to meet a need or satisfy a desire; adequate.  Addicts seem to not have an understanding of enough.  One of SubstanceEducation.com courses,  Drugs, Brain and Behavior, supports this fact.  It provides basic research as to what drives the addict to continued use with little to know feeling of satisfaction (or enoughness).

To have enough or to be enough appears to require accountability and commitment.  One must be fully aware of behaviors and the impact of those behaviors on self and others.  Enough must weave together a tapestry of characteristics to include:  honesty, value, ownership and compassion.  These terms, along with tapping into “common sense”, help any of us to be more successful in our lives.  Small changes pay huge dividends.  Addicts must work to make their role in society one that moves not only their lives forward but eveyone’s lives forward.  Isn’t that the true measure of a person?

Believe you can do anything you set your mind to because you can.  Recognize that the universe is there to help you achieve everything you can imagine.  First you must weave that tapestry…..

“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”  –  Maya Angelou
