September 19, 2015Love versus Pain
Let this be a reminder that often our best shot at finding lasting love comes from the personal growth that occurs in the aftermath of a painful break-up. Additionally being in love doesn’t mean you have to sit there and suffer through pain, hurt and tears.. if it doesn’t feel right maybe it is better to move on.
Can we have great love without great pain? I am not convinced that is possible. It seems that these are two emotions on the opposite side of the coin and that they will eventually “blend” together. This does not mean that one should not search for love. Just recognize when the time comes how to move out of love in order to minimize pain.
Falling in love can be an intense and emotional experience filled with magic and fantasy. Feeling pain gives us the recognition that all statutes have clay feet – people fall off the pedestal for many reasons. Love is a learned behavior so falling out of love (getting out of pain) must be a learned behavior as well. Love inhibits hate. Sadness inhibits laughter. Being in love is a wonderful medicine and can heal lots of issues for people. Conversely pain may so adversely impact your being that esteem and trust are eroded.
Time holds us captive at any given moment. But time passes. And there is always the chance to begin anew!
