Think, Reminisce and Reflect

People dealing with addictions often have a harder time sharing intimately of themselves with others than those people not dealing with addiction.  Honestly, though, sharing intimately is scary for everyone.  The only way to truly get close to another individual, though, is to be open, honest and talkative.  Here are some questions which will assist you in getting closer to those important people in your life.  Do your best to be as specific as possible when answering the following questions.

  • What makes you happy?
  • What is your favorite way to relax?
  • What has been your greatest temptation?
  • Who do you respect and why?
  • After your death, what will be the story of your life?
  • What is a cause you feel intense about?
  • Describe one thing of which you are intolerant?  Why?
  • When did you last ask for advice and about what?
  • Who really likes spending time with you?
  • About what was your parents’ right?
  • Who is the most colorful personality that you know?  Describe that person.
  • If you could get just one answer to a question, what would the question be?
  • Where is truth?
  • If you allowed your heart to lead, where would it take you?
  • What is the worst trouble you have ever gotten into?
  • When did you last enjoy just sitting in the sunshine and enjoying friends?
  • You most disappointing experience in life has been what?
  • You most wonderful experience in life has been what?
  • Do you have a memory that haunts you?
  • Can you discuss the most memorable walk you had with another person?
  • When do you need or enjoy time alone?
  • What is your idea of the perfect romantic getaway?
  • Of all the things you have owned, which has meant the most and why?
  • Ever have a supernatural experience?
  • What moment stands out to you as the most breathless beauty?
  • What will your life be this time next year?

Now as scary as it was to answer those questions, is it not scarier not to answer those questions?  You and your relationships are worth going through the fear!

“Effective communication is 20% what you know and 80% how you feel about what you know.”  –  Jim Rohn
