March 30, 2013The Power Formula
Preparation + connection + excellence = the Power Formula.
I have this on the wall (on a little yellow sticky no less) in my office. I have no idea where it came from but I always feel energized when I read it. So what does it really mean? Let’s break it down word for word and see where we end up.
Preparation means that we have made ready beforehand for a specific event, purpose or occasion. We prepared. That takes forethought, planning and a willingness to “do” something. Doesn’t the willingness to do create the ability to do? People make things happen. We need people with the will and the courage to do extraordinary things. Do you have that within you?
Connection means that we are joining or linking to something outside of ourselves. Also that we unite in some manner in a coherent fashion. Connection requires us to think outside of ourselves for a bigger purpose. There needs to be a process established for us to make connections. We have to be willing to truly change, innovate and breathe life into our uniting with other people. It is important that we look forward toward something we “want” that benefits other people and not just ourselves. That takes decision-making, processing abilities and organization. It also requires us to be non-judgmental. Do you have that within you?
Excellence means to be better than; to surpass; to perform at a higher level than another or of what was specified. To reach the highest level or finest quality means we excelled. What is your culture of excellence? That takes the ability to respond – to be responsible. We must be able to meet the challenges, the disasters and the opportunities that life presents. Do you have that within you?
So the power formula simply means we are to be ready to join with others at the highest level of achievement possible. Do you have that within you?
Addiction erodes this power formula from our lives. Physical illness erodes this power formula from our lives. Mental illness erodes this power formula from our lives. Do you have it within you to get and stay healthy? Do you have it within you?
