A Lasting Impact from Substance Recovery

“Pay it forward!”  This is a very familiar phrase so often used in casual conversation.  I just wonder how many people actually truly “pay it forward”?  Can you remember the last time you said the phrase?  Better yet, the last time you actually accomplished the ACT of “paying it forward!”  The power of giving something to another person after you have been touched by a generous gift from someone it amazing.  I can think of so many ways people around me “give” to me daily.  It is harder to think of the ways I “give” to others daily.  We so often see our own actions as less than others or maybe as just what we are supposed to be doing.  It is the “right” or “healthy” thing to do!  In recovery support groups one of the main tenents of the program is to “pay it forward”.  Step Twelve of most Twelve Step programs deals with giving back – to “pay it forward”.  One of the lasting impacts of recovery is to help others who are less fortunate, who are struggling in their recovery, or questioning their own strength.  Please continue to “pay it forward” in all the ways you can imagine.  Not only will it feed your soul but it will make a lasting impact on those you help!

We would love to hear some of the ways you “pay it forward”!

Strong lives are motivated by dynamic purposes.”
