Addiction Recovery Commitment

September 29, 2012Courage is a 3-letter word: YES
I have a book by Walter Anderson titled: “Courage Is A Three-Letter Word” which was first published in 1986. He talks about how we are all able to conquer fears, overcome disaster and truly live up to our own human spirit. Anything I might write here could never do him or his book justice so I encourage you all to find a copy and read it for yourselves!
A statement he made is one I truly admire: “True hope reminds us that each of us is the driver of our own car, that we are not helpless behind the wheel”. I don’t know about you but I need to be reminded of this every day. So often life feels overwhelming and like a car without breaks speeding down a mountain pass. There are so many things that are out of our control so is it even more important that we “effectively” manage those things which are in our control. Be willing to take a risk and move through difficult situations – be it abstinance from alcohol/drugs, financial devastation from gambling, binge eating from stress or internet pornography destroying your relationship. Say “YES” to the courage of you!
Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.
